Mandarin is one of the most spoken languages of the world. It is the official language of mainland China and a major language in the United Nations, Singapore, and Taiwan.
Essential Elements of Mandarin:
- Pinyin (拼音): A system that uses the Roman alphabet to help pronounce Chinese words.
It was developed in the 1950s to make learning Mandarin easier, especially for students and foreigners.
- Hanzi (汉字): The Chinese characters.
Each character often represents a word or idea. Learning to read and write Hanzi is essential to mastering Mandarin.

The Japanese Language developed 1500 years ago. The early Japanese had no writing system. Around the 5th – 6th century, Chinese characters were adapted to write Japanese.
Although the Japanese Language has borrowed the Chinese Characters, pronunciation, grammar, and sentence structure are completely different.

- Hiragana (ひらがな): Curvy, simple script for native Japanese words and grammar.
