Online and offline Mandarin Chinese Language classes

Meet Ori and Dia, the beloved brand mascots of The Oriental Dialogue! When they aren’t helping students master East Asian languages, these two culture-loving adventurers are out exploring the world.
Their latest destination? Singapore – Asia’s glittering Lion City, where ultra-modern skyscrapers meet lush green gardens, and Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Eurasian heritage weave together in harmony.
Whether you’re planning your dream Singapore holiday or looking to brush up on your Mandarin and local lingo, follow Ori and Dia’s step-by-step 5-day adventure!

Part 1: Essential Singapore Travel Logistics

Before diving into sights and sounds, Ori and Dia made sure their travel prep was seamless. Here is everything you need to know about getting connected and moving around the city.

Tourist SIM Cards

You can grab a prepaid Tourist SIM card right at Changi Airport (at money changers or convenience stores like 7-Eleven).
Top Providers: Singtel, StarHub, and M1.
Cost: Around SGD $12 – $15 for 100 GB of local data, valid for 7-14 days.
Tip: Alternatively, download an eSIM (via Airalo or Nomad) before takeoff for instant connectivity upon landing!

Getting Around: Public Transport Cards

Singapore’s MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) train system and bus network are world-class, clean, and punctual.

Singapore Tourist Pass (STP) – Best for Heavy commuters – Unlimited rides on MRT, LRT, and basic buses for 1, 2, or 3 days (approx. SGD $10–$25).
EZ-Link Card – Best for Standard travellers – Stored-value card ($10 purchase cost, comes with $5 stored value). Re-loadable at any station machine.
Contactless Bank Card – Ultimate convenience – Tap your foreign Visa/Mastercard credit or debit card (or Apple/Google Pay) directly at fare gates. (Note: A small daily admin fee applies).

How to Tap ON and OFF (Transit Etiquette):

Buses: Board from the front door and tap your card on the reader. When getting off, exit from the middle/rear doors and tap your card again. Important: If you forget to tap off, you will be charged the maximum route fare!
MRT Trains: Tap your card/phone on the fare gate to enter, and tap out when leaving your destination station.
Queueing: Always stand behind the marked queue lines on MRT platforms, and allow exiting passengers to alight before boarding.

Cab & Ride-Hailing Apps:

While street taxis (ComfortDelGro) are readily available, ride-hailing apps are the easiest option:
Grab: The dominant super-app in Southeast Asia.
Gojek, Tada, & CDG Zig: Excellent alternatives with competitive pricing during peak hours.
