Korean Language

The Oriental Dialogue’s Korean courses are designed for all age groups, and for learners of all levels. Our language training experience of over 10 years has enabled us to simplify the learning process, using slightly unconventional but highly effective teaching methods. Our teachers are trained to adapt to each student’s abilities and ensure that the learning experience is rewarding for everyone

At TOD, Korean courses are divided into 4 levels. We also conduct preparatory classes specifically for the TOPIK test, the international test of Korean proficiency.

If you have studied Korean before, or are self-taught from watching Korean TV shows and movies, you may skip the earlier levels and start at the level which matches your skill set. You will have to appear for an assessment for us to determine your proficiency, so that you can be placed in the correct class. Get in touch with us here to arrange for a virtual assessment.

The Korean Language

Korean is the official and national language of North and South Korea, with over 79 million speakers worldwide. It shares similarities with Japanese, due to some vocabulary and grammatical structures, but is generally considered a language isolate (not descended from any other language).

Korean is a phonetic language, meaning that once you learn the alphabet you can read out any word in Korean. The Korean alphabet is called Hangul and consists of 24 letters with individual sounds. Syllables are created with a combination of consonants and verbs. The script is straightforward and easy to learn, and our teaching method at TOD further simplifies the process.
