Ms. Aditi (Wadnerkar) Kothekar is a language enthusiast. She speaks about seven different languages. She has received her formal education in Mandarin Chinese from Soochow University, Suzhou, China.
With an M.Com & MBA in hand, she still wanted to pursue her hobby at work. She quit a prestigious job at the State Bank of India to start teaching Mandarin Chinese – a language very few had even heard of.
“Mandarin Chinese is the most widely spoken language in the world. The Chinese writing system is one of the oldest in the world and is very much in use even today – by hundreds of millions of people. It is a very important language to learn. It is, however, perceived to be difficult, and that’s the reason people are scared to even attempt to learn it.
According to me, this language is not difficult, it is different. You just need to look at it that way.”
She started The Oriental Dialogue in 2012 when she realized the need of most business travelers to China was that of learning Mandarin Chinese in the most effective way in a short period of time. Her ’16 hour – Survival Chinese’ workshops at the Mahratta Chambers of Commerce were a hit. Her syllabus design and story-based layout of the language basics were much appreciated. Her vivid use of the Devanagari script along with English pronunciation to help aid in Chinese pronunciation for Indians proved to be very successful in making the language easy to grasp and remember.
On demand, she designed a full range of courses from Beginners to Advanced levels under The Oriental Dialogue. There has been no looking back ever since.
Ms. Aditi Kothekar has been associated with M/s Eaton Corporation, M/s John Deere and M/s Johnson Controls for their Corporate Mandarin Training. She has also worked closely with the Jinhua Government, Zhejiang Province in China for promoting their Historical Villages all over the world.
